How CrimeWatch Works

In conjunction with the city of Richardson PD Crime Watch, Breckinridge Park EAST Crime Watch Patrol that combines all members from neighborhoods on the east side of Breckinridge Park as one. When a particular geographical area becomes involved in Crime Watch, the Crime Prevention Unit can designate a Crime Watch Patrol Area. A coordinator is established and area residents are then sought for patrol members. The patrol members then attend a mandatory 6 hour Crime Watch Patrol School. Training is provided by the City of Richardson Police Department Crime Prevention Unit. Upon successful completion of the patrol school, area residents then volunteer their time and vehicles to patrol their neighborhoods and report all suspicious activities to the Police Department. The City of Richardson supplies patrol members with Crime Watch Patrol Jackets and T-Shirts. Magnetic vehicle Crime Watch Patrol signs are also supplied to increase the visibility of the patrol. For the homeowners interested in joining, an application to join the Breckinridge Park EAST Crime Watch Patrol must be completed and sent to the Richardson PD. The application can be downloaded from the COR website here.
